in my daughter's eyes...

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I want to be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I'm weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
Is had enough
It's givin' more when you feel like givin' up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am
And what we'll be
And though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone
I hope you'll see
How happy she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

4 months old...

k had her 4 month pediatrician appointment today. she's growing like a weed. here are her stats:

weight- 14 lbs. (she gained a pound since her 3 month appointment and is still around 75th percentile for age)
length- 26 ins. (she grew TWO inch since last month and is at the 95th percentile for age!)

we've also decided not to start her on cereal or solid food until (at least) next month. she's growing so well and (usually) sleeping through the night so we'll just keep her on "mommy milk" for now.

the worst part of her appointment was her shots (she got two). she cried for longer than she did at 2 or 3 months. as a matter of fact she cried all the was home. i felt so bad for her. when she got home she fell asleep and woke up smiling. right now she seems like her normal happy self.

here is miss k in her 4 month "monthsie"

i love this kid...

the crib (take two)...

dill and i have always said that we wanted k to sleep in her crib. she initially slept in a bassinet next to our bed and we though we'd transition her to the crib around 3 months. well, we tried it last month (see the original "the crib" post) but it didn't work--i punked out. on her four month birthday we decided it was time to try the crib again. this time (to insure i wouldn't punk out again) i took the bassinet out of our room. well last night she stayed in her crib until 6:30 (her usual wake up/first nurse of the day time) when i brought her in the bed with us. i missed having my pudding pie in the bassinet next to me but it wasn't as bad as i though. i hope it continues to go this smoothly...

she can sit....

on her 4 month birthday k started sitting. it's only for about 30 seconds but she can sit! yeah karys! dill thinks it's funny to try and startle her so that she falls over (poor kid--she better get used to having a dad with an "interesting" sense of humor). here's my little sitter...

she really plays wih her toys...

k is a very inquisitive and happy baby (although when she gets upset she'll let you know it). she loves to laugh and play. she's starting to use more and more of her toys. she grabs them, eats them, and as my dad said "she really plays with her toys". look...

in her jumparoo (that mommy caroline bought her)

anniversary trip...

dill and i celebrated our second anniversary on jan. 15. when we got married we decided we'd try to take an anniversary trip every year to relax and reflect on our marriage. well this year we went to aruba and took k with us (since she's still nursing and we didn't want to be away from her). and i convinced my parents, sister and kanaiya to come too. i was a little anxious about how k would behave. i didn't want her to be "that screaming baby". but she was fabulous. she didn't cry on the way there or back (i'm sure the passengers around us were relieved--one person commented that she was the most well behaved baby they'd ever seen). she's proving to be quite the traveler (dill said she was built for it). here are some photos from our trip...

almost a month since i last posted...

it's been almost a month since i last posted. (i'm trying desperately to finish my dissertation--i'm SICK of being in school--so i haven't been blogging lately). here is what's been happing since i last posted...
  • dill and i celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary and we too our annual "anniversary trip" (k, my parents, my sister & kanaiya came along with us).
  • karys is beginning to really play with her toys
  • k turned 4 months old
  • she can sit up on her own
  • we took her bassinet down so now she's sleeping in her crib
like i said i'm trying to finish my dissertation (and GRADUATE in '08) so i probably won't be writing as much "text" as i used to. but i will certainly try to keep the photos coming...

3 months old...

karys turned 3 months old on dec. 26. i can't believe it. time is really flying by. here she is in her 3 month "monthsie"...

she had her 3 month doctor's appointment on new year's eve. here are her stats:

weight- 13 lbs. 0.5 oz. (around 75th percentile for age)
length- 24 ins. (she grew an inch and which makes her length also about 75th percentile for age)

she got one shot and got her ears pierced. i was nervous for her but k took the shot and the ear piercing like a champ. she cried for about 30 seconds then i picked her up and hugged her and she was fine. here are a couple (not so great) photo of k with earrings...
