back to blogging...

(after a very long break) i'm back to blogging. we have a new name and a (slightly) new look. but it's still the same dill, ty, and karys. and soon we'll have another addition to our family! that's right baby #2 is due may 17, however i may have to have a repeat c-section on may 11th. i plan to go back and add some photos from the past year of K and add weekly posts from now on (or at least while i'm on parental leave). so enjoy and follow our adventures and footprints...

God please make me funny...

karys makes me laugh every single day. today, when she was saying her prayers she said "god, please make me funny". i laughed out loud. i guess he answered her prayers instantly. i love that kid...

k(ids) says the darndest things...

k says the funniest things. some of her "best material" includes...

"i don't wanna hear the concert...i wanna go to sleep"

"i don't feel well i need benedril"

2nd day of school/little miss clean...

today when i went to pick K up from school her teacher told me, "today she missed you a little but she got over it pretty quickly." it made me feel good to a) know that she does think of me when i'm gone and b) she's resilient and recovers quickly. her teacher also said, "she really likes to wash her hands. we washed them before snack and after but i think she wanted to wash them more". that made me laugh. anyone who know dill well knows that he is a germophobe and washes his hands constantly. i guess like daddy, like daughter...

first day of school...

today was k's 1st day of preschool. and she did great! she walked into the classroom, introduced herself to her teachers, gave them her snacks, and started playing. i took some pictures and told her that i was leaving. she said "ok, bye". i called dill and asked "is it a bad thing that our daughter didn't make a fuss about me leaving?" on the one hand i'm very happy (and not really surprised) that she felt comfortable and confident enough to stay on her own. but at the same time i was a little sad that she didn't seem to need me. my baby is growing up. here are a few photos of k...

say kaaaa-rys...

today k told me to "say kaaa-rys, not kar-ys". i laughed out loud. she has a preference on how she wants her name pronounced. so be sure to say kaaa-rys (rhymes with paris) and not kar-ys (rhymes with harris). she has strong opinions at the age of one...

(don't) say my name, (don't) say my name....

K was doing something she wasn't supposed to be doing (surprise, surprise) so i was calling her name to let her know i didn't want her to. she turned around and said "don't say my name" WTH! i had to hold back from yelling and laughing at the same time. why does my 1 year old think she can tell me not to call her...

k's baby cousin ariana...

k got a new cousin today. her name is ariana. karys practiced saying it all day long. in true karys fashion she didn't wouldn't say ariana's name when she went to the hospital to meet her but later that night she kept singing "ariana, ariana, ariana". typical! here a photo of k and beautiful baby ariana...

that girl's got talent...

every mom thinks her baby is talented but min really is :) she's signs, dances, and can paint--a triple threat :) here are a few photos of the little artist at work...

30 and rockin'...

my baby sister will turn 30 in a few days. to celebrate we went rock climbing. the theme was 30 and rockin'! we had a great time. even k got to climb. happy birthday LB! you are one rockin' woman...

she says what's on her mind...

i was in the other room at my parents house and i heard k say "leave me alone". i wasn't sure i heard her correctly but i asked my sister. and sure enough she said "leave me alone". she wasn't talking to me (she was talking to kanaiya) but the girl says what's on her mind. i can only imagine what the teen years will be like...

viva las vegas...

dill had a conference in vegas. so karys, grandma elmore and i decided to tag along. we enjoyed the warm weather, visited one of dill's former colleagues and her family, did a lot or walking and k, dill and i even went to see the cirque de soleil show mystere. as usual, k had a wonderful time. she juggled with the performers at the venetian, clapped throughout mystere, danced with the temptations cover band during dinner, did a lot of walking and people watching and enjoyed the attention she got by wearing her halloween costume (a ladybug) in the airport. she really has fun where ever she goes. it's so fun to see the excitement in her eyes when she see experiences things for the first time.

karys surprises me with her vocabulary. the girl can talk. besides the basic
mama and dada she can also say:

up

stop

amen

please

all done

thank you

apple

and a few more i can't remember right now. she also know a few simple sentences "what you doing?" and "what that?" love this kid...

i found a photo of k and her daddy (and kanaiya) at the apple orchard. guess i had enough battery power for one photo. so look dill, you made the blog ;)

app, app, app...

today dill and i took karys (and kanaiya) apple picking. my mom though it was silly to take a one year old apple picking b/c in her words "she's not really going to enjoy it". but she did. karys (and kanaiya) had a blast. they picked apples (and ate them) and went on a hay ride (with well it was actually just a ride b/c there was no hay). when we got back to my parents house karys told mom-mom that she picked "apps" (her way of saying apple). see mom-mom, told you she would have fun. don't underestimate K!

of couse i didn't charge my camera when we went so there are no photos from karys' first apple picking trip but i took her apple picking again with my friend michele and her two cuties and here are a few photos from that excursion...
